Artist's note- "Death Light I"

"At the time my mother died I started seeing birds everywhere. I was coming off a hike, approaching my studio when I found a dead bird on my doorstep. With great trepidation I picked up this brid and brought her inside and gently laid her on a table. As I painted first on canvas and the added aluminum, I also added one of the birds wings. The aluminum reflecting light, and the bird's wing commemorating my mother's death."
