"Beginning at a young age, Sandra Muss developed a keen interest with nature and her natural surroundings. An incessant collector of botanical and organic treasures with an unbounded imagination, she enters her envirom=nment seeking out the perfect twig, flower, seashell, leaf, feather, or stone that complements and communicates a personal message in her compositions.

A somewhat solitary artist, Muss has been quietly producing extraordinary works that display a unique, mature approach embodying both the gestural style of Abstract Expressionists and the art of assemblage. Muss first employs bold, heavy brushstrokes to her canvases. She then builds upon their surfaces by incorporating and collaging her natural found elements. Her striking larger scale pieces demonstrate a nod to Robert Rauschenberg, whereas the delicate, refined smaller works truly transcend and transform.

Muss is a powerful artist with tremendous renge and an innovative style. In some ways she is an emerging artist, though she exhibits the confidence of an accomplished and seasoned painter. We are very pleased to introduce Sandra Muss in her inaugural New York showing and strongly encourage everyone to carefully examine and consider this brilliant artist and her recent body of work."
